Study of the Radiation Pattern and Frequency Response of a Short Linear Antenna Surrounded by Discharge Tubes for the Development of Rapidly Adjustable Wideband Antenna Systems

Plasma antenna systems consisting of discharge elements have great practical application prospects due to their ability quickly adjust parameters over a wide range. In this work, the radiation patterns 30 mm long linear surrounded by 16 standard T8 fluorescent lamps were measured using spectrum analyzer with tracking generator. The pattern system is connecting output generator and input receiving broadband horn antenna. work features experimental measurements frequency range 0.5 1.5 GHz current values from 35 200 mA. specific band uniquely selected geometry allowed for investigation both in-phase out-of-phase modes, while some modes found narrow directional pattern, within 50 degrees, beam width −3 dB. gas-discharge plasma also evaluated drift theory, as well microwave transmission 20 signal. electron density value corresponding used currents was approximately 4 × 1011 7 1010 cm−3.
